This is a very fine golf course, though perhaps you only come to that conclusion after playing it several times. The course has some sensational views over Funchal and the sea beyond.
Designing a course across volcanic slopes and mature vegetation require some skill and Cabell Robinson, who also designed Praia D’el Rey, succeeded in his goal.
Located in the 200 year old Palheiro Estate the course setting is tranquil and colourful with the beautiful flowers of the island decorating the course. The challenges of the course are the numerous bunkers on the course with some in view and some not and the undulating greens.
The Clubhouse looking over Funchal is the perfect place for the soothing post game drink.
